Sinhala script

Sinhala script is an abugida used for writing the Sinhala language in Sri Lanka. It evolved from ancient Indian scripts and features rounded characters suited to writing on palm leaves. Each consonant has an inherent vowel sound, which can be modified with diacritics to produce different vowels. The script includes unique symbols for consonants, vowels, and special sounds, enabling the representation of complex phonetic nuances. Its flowing, curvilinear style reflects both practicality and aesthetic tradition, making it distinctive and expressive within the Indo-Aryan family of scripts.
