Simplification of Chinese Characters

Simplification of Chinese characters involves reducing the complexity of traditional characters to create a more streamlined and efficient writing system. This process was implemented in the mid-20th century by the Chinese government to promote literacy and ease of learning. Simplified characters often have fewer strokes and are derived from their traditional counterparts, making them easier to write and recognize. While they retain the original meanings, some characters might look notably different. Simplification primarily applies to Mainland China and Singapore, whereas Hong Kong and Taiwan continue to use traditional characters.
