Simple group

A simple group is a type of symmetry group in mathematics that cannot be broken down into smaller, non-trivial symmetrical parts. Think of it as a fundamental building block for understanding symmetry; it has no smaller groups inside it (aside from the trivial ones). Simple groups are important because they help mathematicians understand how larger, more complex groups are constructed by combining these basic units. They are somewhat analogous to prime numbers in arithmetic—fundamental components that can't be divided further in a meaningful way within the context of group structure.
