
Simon Fraser (politician)
Simon Fraser was a Canadian explorer and politician in the 18th century, known for his significant role in the exploration of British Columbia. Born in 1776 in Scotland, he came to Canada where he worked for the North West Company. Fraser led notable expeditions along rivers in the region, including the Fraser River, which is named after him. He later became involved in local politics, serving as a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Colony of British Columbia. Fraser's contributions to exploration and governance helped shape the development of the Canadian west. He passed away in 1862.
