Simnel Rebellion
The Simnel Rebellion of 1487 was a Yorkist attempt to challenge King Henry VII's rule. Supporters crowned Lambert Simnel, a pretender claiming to be the Earl of Warwick, and backed him as a rightful king. They sought to overthrow Henry VII by rallying armies in Ireland and England. The rebellion was eventually defeated at the Battle of Stoke, affirming Henry’s authority. This uprising highlighted ongoing tensions between rival noble factions after the Wars of the Roses and emphasized Henry’s need to solidify his claim to the throne.
