Silverites

Silverites were members of a late 19th-century political movement in the United States who believed that the nation should base its currency on both gold and silver, rather than gold alone. They argued that backing money with silver would increase the money supply, helping farmers and miners by making loans easier to obtain and promoting economic growth. These advocates often supported the free coinage of silver, believing it would provide more flexibility in the economy. The Silverite movement was part of a broader debate over monetary policy during the Gilded Age, contrasting with Gold Bugs who favored a gold standard.
