Silver Maple

The Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America, known for its fast growth and distinctive silvery underside of the leaves. It typically reaches 50-70 feet tall, with a broad, spreading canopy. The tree has deeply lobed, doubly serrated leaves that turn yellow or reddish in the fall. Silver Maples thrive in moist, fertile soils and are often found along riverbanks and floodplains. They are valued for their quick growth and shade, but their wood is relatively weak and prone to breakage in storms. The tree also produces small, winged seeds called samaras in spring.
