Silver Halide Photography

Silver halide photography is a traditional photographic process that uses light-sensitive silver compounds on film or paper. When exposed to light, these compounds undergo a chemical change, creating a latent image that is invisible until developed. During processing, chemicals convert the exposed silver halide into metallic silver, forming a visible image. This process has been widely used in film photography for its fine detail and tonal range. Although largely replaced by digital methods, silver halide photography remains valued for its image quality, archival stability, and aesthetic qualities, especially in fine art and specialty applications.
