Siltuximab
Siltuximab is a medication that helps treat certain types of cancer and immune system disorders by targeting a protein called interleukin-6 (IL-6). IL-6 plays a role in inflammation and cell growth. In some diseases, like multicentric Castleman’s disease, IL-6 is produced excessively, leading to symptoms like enlarged lymph nodes, fever, and fatigue. Siltuximab binds to IL-6, blocking its activity, which can reduce inflammation and disease symptoms. It is administered by injection and is typically used under medical supervision for specific conditions where IL-6 is a contributing factor.
