Silt Erosion

Silt erosion is the process where fine particles of soil, called silt, are worn away and carried away by water or wind. This often happens along riverbanks, lakeshores, or areas with loose soil, especially after heavy rain or strong currents. When silt erodes, it can lead to the loss of land, increased sediment in water bodies, and changes in waterways’ flow patterns. Managing silt erosion is important for environmental health, infrastructure stability, and maintaining water quality, typically through measures like planting vegetation, building barriers, or controlling water flow.
