Silica fume

Silica fume is a very fine, powdery material made from the byproduct of producing silicon or ferrosilicon alloys. It contains tiny particles of silicon dioxide (quartz), which are much smaller than sand grains. When added to concrete, silica fume enhances its strength, durability, and resistance to water and chemicals by significantly reducing small pores and increasing density. This improves the overall quality and longevity of concrete structures. Due to its very fine nature, silica fume must be carefully mixed to ensure proper distribution within the concrete mix.
