Silent mutations

Silent mutations are changes in the DNA sequence that do not affect the overall function of the resulting protein. This happens because multiple DNA codons can encode the same amino acid, so a change in one codon may not alter the protein's structure or performance. Essentially, the mutation "happens silently" without any noticeable effect on the organism. These mutations are common and are a normal part of genetic variation, often having no impact on health or development.
