Sikh traditions

Sikh traditions are rooted in the teachings of Guru Nanak and nine subsequent Gurus, emphasizing equality, humility, and devotion to one God. Sikhs gather in Gurdwaras, where they participate in prayer, community service (Seva), and share a communal meal called Langar. Key practices include wearing five articles of faith—uncut hair (Kesh), a wooden comb (Kangha), steel bracelet (Kara), prayer sash (Kirpan), and cotton underwear (Kachera)—which symbolize commitment and identity. Sikhs reject discrimination, promote honest work, and cultivate compassion, with the aim of living a truthful, righteous life guided by humility and service.
