The Siege of Veii (391-396 BCE) was a significant conflict between the Roman Republic and the Etruscan city of Veii, located near modern-day Rome. This protracted siege marked a turning point for Rome, showcasing its military strategies and determination. Roman forces, led by the general Camillus, used innovative tactics, including tunneling under the city walls. After almost a decade, they successfully captured Veii, expanding Rome’s territory and influence. This victory not only weakened Etruscan power but also boosted Roman morale and set the stage for further territorial expansion in Italy.
