Siege of Tunis
The Siege of Tunis occurred in 1535 when Spanish forces, led by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, attempted to capture the North African city of Tunis from the Ottoman Empire. This military campaign aimed to curb Ottoman influence in the Mediterranean and restore the former Christian control of the city. The siege involved intense fighting and ultimately resulted in the capture of Tunis by the Spanish forces. However, the victory was short-lived, as local resistance and Ottoman reinforcements led to instability, making it difficult for Spain to maintain control of the region effectively.
