Siege of Tobruk

The Siege of Tobruk was a significant battle during World War II, occurring from April to December 1941 in Libya. British and Allied forces, including Australian troops, held the strategic port of Tobruk against repeated attacks by the German and Italian armies. Despite sieges and heavy fighting, the defenders managed to protect the city and its vital supply lines, boosting Allied morale. The successful defense disrupted Axis plans in North Africa, and Tobruk’s endurance became a symbol of resistance. The siege ended with the Allies breaking the Axis grip, allowing them to advance further into North Africa.
