Siege of Tiberias

The Siege of Tiberias occurred in 1187 during the Muslim-Christian conflicts, when Muslim forces led by Saladin surrounded and attacked the city of Tiberias in present-day Israel. Tiberias was an important strategic and religious site, held by Crusaders. Saladin aimed to weaken the Crusader states and consolidate Muslim control in the region. After intense fighting and blockade, the Crusaders surrendered the city, which was then incorporated into Saladin’s expanding territory. The siege highlighted the shifting balance of power in the Holy Land during the period and contributed to the eventual Muslim reconquest of Jerusalem.
