Siege
A siege is a military tactic where an armed force surrounds a city, fortress, or position to cut off supplies, communication, and escape routes. The goal is to weaken and eventually force the defenders to surrender without direct assault. Historically, sieges involved lengthy periods of containment, using methods like blocking entrances, bombarding walls, and cutting off resources. Modern sieges may also involve psychological and economic pressure. It’s a strategy aimed at gaining control over a location by isolating it, rather than immediate attack, often leading to eventual capitulation of those inside.
