Sidama is a prominent ethnic group in Ethiopia, primarily residing in the Southern Region. They have a distinct language called Sidamigna and a rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and customs. Historically, they were organized into independent communities, and today they play a significant role in Ethiopia’s social and political landscape. In recent years, the Sidama people successfully campaigned for greater autonomy, resulting in the establishment of the Sidama Regional State within Ethiopia. Their identity and efforts contribute to the country's diverse mosaic of cultures and regional governance.
