Shvetambara Sect
The Shvetambara sect is one of the two main branches of Jainism, an ancient Indian religion emphasizing non-violence and spiritual purity. Shvetambaras, meaning "white-clad," believe that monks can wear white clothing, symbolizing purity, and they allow women to attain spiritual liberation. They follow specific scriptures and traditions distinct from the Digambara sect, which monks traditionally wear no clothing. The Shvetambara tradition also places importance on the collection and preservation of Jain scriptures and emphasizes compassion, non-attachment, and ethical living as pathways to spiritual liberation.
