Shunt
A shunt is a medical device or procedure that creates an alternate pathway for fluids, such as cerebrospinal fluid or blood, to flow around a problematic area. For example, in cases of increased brain pressure, a shunt can divert excess fluid away from the brain to another part of the body where it can be absorbed, helping to relieve symptoms. Essentially, a shunt helps manage abnormal fluid buildup by redirecting flow, improving health and preventing damage caused by pressure or blockage.
