水星 (Shui Xing)

水星 (Shui Xing), known as Mercury in Western astronomy, is the closest planet to the Sun in our solar system. It has a solid, rocky surface similar to Earth's, characterized by craters and rugged terrains. Mercury experiences extreme temperature variations—very hot during the day and freezing at night—due to its thin atmosphere. It has a very slow rotation, taking about 59 days to spin once on its axis, and completes an orbit around the Sun in approximately 88 days. Despite its small size, Mercury’s proximity to the Sun makes it an important object of study for understanding planetary formation and solar system dynamics.
