Shmerke Kaczerginski

Shmerke Kaczerginski was a Lithuanian Jewish cultural activist, historian, and composer, born in 1910. He dedicated his life to preserving Jewish history, music, and traditions, particularly in the face of the Holocaust's destruction. During World War II, he survived the Nazi occupation by escaping and later documented Jewish experiences and resistance. Kaczerginski also contributed to the revival of Jewish cultural life after the war, collecting songs, stories, and historical records. His work helped ensure that Jewish cultural heritage and history persisted despite the massive atrocities of the Holocaust.
