Shiprock

Shiprock is a striking, high volcanic rock formation located in northwest New Mexico. It is a monolithic butte, standing about 1,583 feet tall, formed from the exposed remains of an ancient volcanic plug— the hardened core of an extinct volcano. Over millions of years, erosion removed surrounding material, leaving this prominent, tower-like structure. Shiprock holds cultural significance for Navajo people and is a notable landmark for travelers and climbers. Its unique, jagged appearance and geological history make it an iconic feature of the landscape.
