Shinshichishū

Shinshichishū was a Japanese Buddhist movement founded in the late 19th century by Ninomiya Sontoku. It emphasized moral self-cultivation, practical ethics, and the importance of individual effort alongside traditional Buddhist teachings. The movement aimed to promote civic responsibility, social harmony, and personal development through disciplined study and ethical behavior. Shinshichishū sought to adapt Buddhist principles to modern societal needs, fostering a sense of moral duty within communities. While rooted in Buddhism, it also incorporated elements of Confucianism and Japanese cultural values to encourage responsible citizenship and ethical growth.
