Shia-Sunni conflicts

The Shia-Sunni conflict stems from a historical disagreement over who should lead the Muslim community after Prophet Muhammad's death in 632 CE. Sunnis believe leadership should be chosen by consensus, leading to their dominance in many regions, while Shia Muslims hold that leadership should stay within Muhammad's family, specifically through his cousin and son-in-law, Ali. Over time, these differing views developed into distinct religious practices, beliefs, and political tensions, contributing to conflicts. Today, these divisions influence social, political, and sometimes violent conflicts in various countries, but many communities coexist peacefully despite differences.
