SHGs (Self-Help Groups)
Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are small community groups, typically made up of 10 to 20 members, who come together to save money and provide mutual support. Originating in India, these groups empower individuals, especially women, to access credit, improve their livelihoods, and promote social change. Members contribute a fixed amount regularly, which forms a common fund. They can then take small loans from this fund for personal or business needs. SHGs foster financial literacy, encourage self-sufficiency, and help members build trust and networks, contributing to economic development and community resilience.
