Sheriffs
Sheriffs are elected law enforcement officials responsible for maintaining safety and order within a county. They oversee the county jail, serve legal documents such as warrants and subpoenas, and sometimes manage court security. Sheriffs also coordinate with local police and other agencies to enforce laws, investigate crimes, and respond to emergencies. As elected officials, sheriffs represent the community’s interests and have authority granted by state laws, operating independently from city police departments but often working together to ensure public safety across the county.
