Shastric Law
Shastric Law refers to the traditional legal and spiritual principles rooted in ancient Indian scriptures called Shastras, including texts like the Vedas, Dharma Shastras, and other religious scriptures. These laws encompass moral, ethical, and societal guidelines that governed personal conduct, social duties, and justice in classical Indian society. While they influence cultural and religious practices today, Shastric Law historically provided a framework for resolving disputes, maintaining social order, and guiding righteous living based on spiritual values. It is distinct from modern civil or criminal law, emphasizing dharma (duty) and divine principles.
