Shareholder-Manager Relations
Shareholder-manager relations refer to the dynamic between a company's owners (shareholders) and its executives (managers). Shareholders invest capital and expect the company to grow and generate profits, while managers make daily decisions to achieve these goals. Effective relations involve clear communication, trust, and aligned interests. Sometimes, managers might prioritize their own goals over shareholders’, leading to conflicts called "principal-agent problems." Good governance structures help ensure managers act in shareholders' best interests, balancing oversight with autonomy, fostering transparency, and promoting long-term success for the company and its investors.
