shared equity
Shared equity is a homeownership arrangement where a buyer and an investor or housing organization jointly own a property. The buyer usually purchases a share, often with help from a down payment or subsidy, and they pay rent on the remaining share owned by the investor. Over time, the buyer can buy more shares or sell their share, sharing the property's appreciation or depreciation. This system makes homeownership more affordable by reducing upfront costs and sharing the risks and rewards of property value changes between the buyer and investor.
