Shaheed Udham Singh
Shaheed Udham Singh was an Indian revolutionary known for his powerful opposition to British colonial rule. Born in 1899, he is most famous for assassinating Michael O'Dwyer, who was the British Lieutenant Governor of Punjab during the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where many innocent Indians were killed. Singh believed justice could only be achieved through direct action against oppressive colonial authorities. After the assassination in 1940, he was arrested, tried, and executed in 1940. He is celebrated as a martyr in India for his dedication to freedom and his willingness to take extreme measures to seek justice.
