Shahab al-Din Muhammad was a prominent medieval Persian philosopher and scholar from the 12th century. He is best known for founding the Illuminationist (Ishraqi) school of Islamic philosophy, emphasizing intuitive knowledge and spiritual insight over purely rational methods. His ideas merged Islamic theology with concepts from Neoplatonism, aiming to understand the divine and the nature of reality through inner illumination.
