Shaduf

A shaduf is an ancient device used for lifting water from the ground, commonly found along riverbanks and agricultural fields. It consists of a pole or arm balanced on a pivot, with a bucket or container attached at one end and a counterweight at the other. To use it, someone pulls down on the handle, lowering the bucket into the water source. When released, the weight helps lift the bucket filled with water to the surface, where it can be poured into irrigation channels. The shaduf is a simple, effective tool that has been used for thousands of years to assist in small-scale irrigation.
