Sextants

A sextant is an ancient navigational instrument used primarily by sailors to measure the angle between a celestial object (like the sun or a star) and the horizon. By accurately gauging this angle, navigators can determine their latitude and help pinpoint their location at sea. The sextant consists of a frame, an adjustable arm called a vernier, and mirrors that enable precise angle measurements. Despite digital advancements, sextants remain valued for their reliability, independence from electronic systems, and their role in traditional navigation.
