Sex Addiction
Sex addiction, often referred to as hypersexuality, is characterized by a compulsive preoccupation with sexual behaviors that can negatively impact one’s life, relationships, and responsibilities. Individuals may feel unable to control their sexual urges, leading to repeated engagement in sexual activities despite adverse consequences, such as emotional distress or relationship problems. It is recognized as a behavioral addiction, similar to substance addiction, where the individual seeks out sexual experiences to cope with stress or emotional issues. Treatment typically involves therapy, support groups, and developing healthier coping mechanisms.
