Severe ME

Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is a complex, long-term illness characterized by profound, unrefreshing fatigue that worsens with physical or mental activity. In severe cases, individuals may be largely housebound or bedbound, experiencing significant cognitive issues (“brain fog”), pain, and sensitivity to light, sound, or touch. Their nervous and immune systems are thought to be affected, leading to persistent symptoms that greatly impair daily life. The exact cause is unknown, and there is no cure, making management focused on symptom relief and improving quality of life.
