Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) is a contagious illness caused by a coronavirus. It primarily affects the lungs, leading to symptoms like high fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. SARS spreads through droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and can also spread by touching contaminated surfaces. While most recover with medical care, severe cases can cause pneumonia and organ failure. Outbreaks occurred in 2002-2003, prompting global health responses. Understanding and controlling transmission through hygiene, isolation, and monitoring are key to preventing such infectious diseases.
