Sever's Disease

Sever's Disease, also known as calcaneal apophysitis, is a common condition in growing children, typically ages 8 to 14. It occurs when the growth plate at the back of the heel becomes inflamed due to repetitive stress or excessive activity, such as sports. This inflammation can cause heel pain, especially during physical activity or when walking. While the condition is uncomfortable, it usually resolves on its own as the child grows and the growth plate matures. Treatment often involves rest, ice, stretching exercises, and sometimes supportive footwear.
