Seventh Amendment
The Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to a jury trial in certain civil cases—disputes between individuals or organizations—not just criminal cases. It ensures that, in most civil lawsuits where the amount in controversy exceeds a specific threshold, parties can have their case decided by a group of impartial citizens rather than solely by a judge. Additionally, once a jury has made a decision, the findings generally cannot be re-examined or overturned by a higher court, protecting the integrity of the trial process.
