
Seven Principles of Kwanzaa
The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa, known as Nguzo Saba, are guiding values that promote unity and empowerment within the African American community. They are: Umoja (Unity) encourages togetherness; Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) emphasizes defining and controlling one's identity; Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) promotes working together to solve community issues; Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) supports building and supporting black-owned businesses; Nia (Purpose) encourages striving for meaningful community development; Kuumba (Creativity) inspires using artistic expression to improve and beautify community; and Imani (Faith) sustains belief in community strength and future progress.
