Series I Savings Bonds
Series I Savings Bonds are a type of U.S. government savings bond designed to protect your investment from inflation. They earn interest in two ways: a fixed rate that stays the same for the life of the bond, and an inflation rate that adjusts every six months based on changes in the Consumer Price Index. Investors can purchase them for a minimum of $25, and they are intended for long-term savings, as they must be held for at least one year. Cashing them in early may incur penalties, and they offer tax advantages as well.
