Sergei Ivanov is a Russian politician and former military officer, born in 1953. He served as Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister from 2008 to 2009 and held various other government and diplomatic roles. Ivanov was also the chief of staff for President Vladimir Putin from 2003 to 2006. Before his political career, he was a high-ranking officer in the Soviet and Russian armed forces.
