Serbian Nationalism
Serbian nationalism is a political and cultural movement advocating for the interests, identity, and unity of the Serbian people. It emerged in the 19th century as Serbia sought independence from the Ottoman Empire and has evolved over time. The movement emphasizes shared language, culture, and history among Serbs, often promoting territorial claims in regions with significant Serbian populations. While it can foster national pride, it has also led to conflicts, particularly during the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s, where extreme forms of nationalism fueled ethnic tensions and violence in the Balkans.
