Serbian medieval history
Serbian medieval history spans from the 12th to 15th centuries, marked by the rise of the Serbia Grand Principality and later the Kingdom of Serbia, which became a powerful medieval state. Under rulers like Stefan Nemanja and Stefan Dušan, Serbia experienced territorial expansion, cultural growth, and the development of a strong Orthodox Christian identity. The empire reached its height under Dušan, who created a codified legal system and expanded southward. However, internal conflicts and external threats, especially from the Ottoman Empire, gradually weakened Serbia, leading to its conquest in the mid-15th century and the end of the medieval Serbian state.
