Serbian Krajina
Serbian Krajina was a self-proclaimed Serbian-controlled region within Croatia during the Croatian War of Independence (1991–1995). It primarily consisted of territories with a significant Serbian population, who sought to remain part of Serbia or establish Serbian autonomy amidst Croatia's move toward independence from Yugoslavia. The region declared independence in 1991, leading to conflict and widespread displacement. Croatia ultimately regained control in 1995 following military operations, reinforcing its sovereignty. Serbian Krajina's existence and conflict are key aspects of the broader Yugoslav Wars, reflecting ethnic tensions, national sovereignty issues, and the complex breakup of Yugoslavia.
