Seoul virus

Seoul virus is a type of hantavirus transmitted primarily through contact with infected rodents, especially apartment-dwelling rats. It can cause Seoul virus infection in humans, leading to symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, and potentially more serious issues such as bleeding or kidney problems. Most cases occur where people have close contact with rodent droppings or urine. While it’s not generally transmitted human-to-human, reducing rodent infestations and maintaining good hygiene are effective ways to prevent infection. Seoul virus is found worldwide, particularly in urban areas with significant rat populations, but it remains relatively rare and manageable with proper precautions.
