Sentient Beings
Sentient beings are entities capable of experiencing perceptions, feelings, thoughts, and consciousness. This includes humans, many animals, and potentially some advanced artificial intelligences. Sentience involves awareness of oneself and the environment, as well as the ability to experience pleasure, pain, or other sensations. It is a key concept in ethics and philosophy, often used to determine moral considerations, such as rights and welfare. Recognizing sentience helps us understand the importance of treating beings with the capacity for subjective experience with care and respect.
