Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a condition where the brain has difficulty receiving, interpreting, and responding to sensory information from the environment and body. This can result in over-responsiveness (being easily overwhelmed), under-responsiveness (seeking more stimulation), or inconsistent responses to sensory input. Individuals with SPD may be sensitive to lights, sounds, textures, or touch, which can affect daily functioning, learning, and emotional regulation. It is often seen in children but can also affect adults. SPD is typically managed through occupational therapy and personalized strategies to improve sensory integration and coping skills.
