Sensory neuronopathy
Sensory neuronopathy is a condition where the nerves responsible for transmitting sensation from your body to your brain, called sensory neurons, become damaged or dysfunctional. This leads to symptoms like numbness, tingling, loss of coordination, and sometimes pain, mainly affecting the arms and legs. Unlike other nerve issues, sensory neuronopathy often causes widespread sensory problems that can develop quickly. It may be related to autoimmune conditions, certain infections, or other medical causes. Diagnosis involves nerve testing, and treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause and managing symptoms.
